@pthenq1 yup he did indeed get the right verdict. I am happy the system works at least some of the time.
I wish I could share your sentiment that we should trust the system, but given the current environment, that's hard to do. One seemingly correct verdict does not undo all the wrongs of the past several years nor does it necessarily mean anything for the future.
If the mainstream media behaves responsibly and doesn't fan the flames of division the next few days, then I will have more faith in the justice system and the country as a whole. There are two trials in these high profile cases. One in the court room and one in the public space. You can win one but still be proclaimed guilty by the media. From a quality of life perspective, you have to win both. I don't know that Kyle R will be that fortunate.
In that episode, the problem was more structural: I understand that Kenosha County Sheriff deputized people with weapons to patrol the streets.
That was a mistake. That was THE mistake.
