Reitman served as a doctor for hobos, prostitutes and the downtrodden. He participated in numerous free speech fights and anarchist causes, getting beaten, tarred and feathered, jailed, and run out of town for his troubles, most notably during the San Diego free speech fight. A research team in the United Kingdom identified a new blood group system called MAL in which proteins called antigens are missing from red blood cells. They also developed a test to identify patients who fall into the blood group, which would allow for better blood transfusions and could potentially save thousands of lives a year. ¿Qué es un #doctor o una #doctora?

Creo que hay bastante desconocimiento entre la gente sobre lo que es un doctor/doctora.

El doctorado es la más alta titulación que puede obtenerse en el Sistema Educativo. Pero ser doctor/doctora no significa tener profundos conocimientos generales sobre una rama del saber.

Recuerdo que cuando obtuve mi título de Doctor Ingeniero en Informática, al principio me venían conocidos para que les resolviera sus más peregrinos problemas informáticos. Ahora ya no me pasa, supongo que al no resolvérselos me echaron al desván de los trastos inservibles.

Los conocimientos profundos son de una parcela muy concreta, en la que se realiza un trabajo de investigación original que finalmente se plasma en una tesis doctoral.

Así, mi investigación la centré en el uso de algoritmos evolutivos en el diseño de controladores. Los algoritmos evolutivos tuvieron tirón hace años y resuelven problemas inspirándose en el proceso de evolución natural. Y es de lo que más sé.
