Unnecessary, but still feeling guilty for going back to work after three weeks of vacation.
I decided to bake a walnut chocolate cake for my family to ease my heart and mind. It is one cake everyone in my family absolutely love, especially my mom 😊
Yes, I'm baking a big tin for this occasion so no one will lack.

Love does go through the stomach, and food prepared with love creates memories that will stay with one life 💗

Good night! #3GoodThings
1. Towels are washed, dried, folded and put away. That’s three good things right there. 🤣
2. Chose another Braille book to read. If a book can’t catch and hold my attention in the first chapter, I delete it. But I do have another one to read and that is good. 😁
3. Chatted with family today and set up times to call my aunt and cousin. ❤️
Sleep well and may your dreams be out of this world. 🤗🫶❤️🫂 #GoodNight #Braille #Family

I had a video call with family, and my 4-year-old niece asked what I am doing today. I said that I would be going up to the rooftop for drinks after work with people. She told me the roof is not a safe place, so now I have to send a picture when I go up, so she can assess if it’s safe 😁

Good night! #3GoodThings
1. Closed my fitness rings and got in over 10K steps. 💪 You don’t have to always work out to get exercise.
2. Messaged some today with a cousin I don’t know very well from my dad’s side of the family and have plans to call her and my aunt over the weekend to get to know them. Long story as to why I don’t know them very well.
3. Decided on a new Braille book since one I had chosen just wasn’t holding my interest. That’s okay, I still have over 400 Braille books to read. 😀
Sleep well and may your dreams be out of this world. 🤗🫶❤️🫂 #GoodNight #Family #Braille

"L'arbre tordu vit sa vie, l'arbre droit finit en planches" ; proverbe chinois
Naître, subir des coups à chaque envie et besoin de grandir, se tordre et continuer de grandir même de travers.
S'élever vers la lumière même si le bûcheron est ton père.
S'enraciner en forêt même si ta mère arrache tes branches.
Vivre car tu es en vie même si eux l'ont oublié.

Baher moved a market to tears and sealed a new future for his family

Five months after fleeing his home in Gaza, Baher Skaik sat behind a piano in Melbourne's Preston Markets. He was there to play for strangers as part of the ABC series The Piano. It brought unexpected and life-changing rewards for his young family.

A leftist case *against* family abolition - worth checking out! Key points: (1) Capital does not actually *need* the family (see: migrant women from the Global South abandoning their families to take care of rich women's families) and (2) the family is, in Nancy Fraser's words "a 'reservoir of non-economic normativity': a sphere of values, care, and relations that capitalism exploits but cannot fully incorporate." jacobin.com/2025/06/family-abo #family #politics

jacobin.comThe Limits of Family AbolitionFamily abolitionists see the family as the beating heart of capitalist social reproduction. But this view of the family misunderstands both the structure of capitalist reproduction and the complexity of how people survive within it.
